Shawn Halverson, founder of Surfacing Solutions, has been involved in concrete for over 30 years—from foundations, patios, and drives to structural high rises, bridges, and subterranean. Shawn began his new adventure with concrete by getting involved with decorative overlays, stamping, staining, polishing, and enjoying the latest trend with concrete countertops, sinks and furniture pieces.
Surfacing Solutions enjoys the art aspect of the products. Concrete is a simple substance that starts as a barrel of rock powder and water and can be coaxed into breathtaking looks that produces ‘aahhs’ and ‘ooohs’ by its many admirers. “This is what drives us at SSI—seeing and hearing our customer’s reactions and appreciation” says Halverson.
We find that our customers are unique in the fact that they want something that is anything but ordinary. They desire a one-of-a-kind look. We feel concrete lovers are special. They appreciate the variances which non-crete lovers would call a flaw, but our clients call originality, beauty, and their own.”
Surfacing Solutions Inc. celebrates its first decade in 2010
What started out 10 years ago as a company specializing in epoxy garage finishes and decorative driveways has steadily grown into a business that is successful in all aspects of decorative concrete applications and restorations.
We began during a recession 10 years ago and have conquered and overcome the economic challenges. Our most recent and rewarding project was The New Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios. This project created new challenges for us. From this we gained inspiration and determination to push forward, pursue new innovations and to continue investing into the future of our business.
Throughout the years we have been honored by our industry peers. We were awarded for top form and top 20 decorative projects for a concrete conference table we designed for First Team Realtors in Newport Beach. We’ve been recognized for unique floor designs from polished to decorative stained floors in concrete media publications.
